Character Information
Character Name: Cloud Strife
Canon Source: Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children
Age: 23
Present Location: Third Level Midgar
Residential time: Nine months
Occupation: Jack of all trades, master of none. That is to say, unemployed.
Sexual Orientation: Confused

Basic Personality: Cloud himself doesn't quite know what his personality is supposed to be, and that lends itself to some interesting inner conflicts. He is reserved to the point where it's almost painfully awkward to engage him in longstanding conversation, and somewhat shy, but at the same time, he can be cold and rather brusque when dealing with people. He never seems to know quite where he stands with someone, and as a result prefers to spend time by himself or in the company of similarly solitary people. He's independent to the point that it's almost ridiculous, and even when he claims to trust someone -- which is a long time in coming -- he will often do things all on his own instead of relying on them.

A large part of what makes Cloud act the way he does is an inferiority complex. He is haunted by the concept that he will never quite measure up to what a voice inside his head tells him he needs to be, and so he takes on too much by himself. He is afraid of being alone all his life, and yet he pushes people away, thinking it's better that he manage all on his own rather than depend on others. He wants to be strong enough that people can come to him, but when he's at his own breaking point, he refuses help. He longs for someone to trust him, but he trusts no one enough to let them in. The worst part is, he doesn't understand where all of these conflicting desires come from.

As a result, he's reclusive, but if anyone is dogged enough to actually stick around and try to pry away the layers to get to the real Cloud, they would be surprised by what they found. He's capable of being a caring, loyal, and gentle person, and probably would be, if he only gave himself half a chance. What he needs is someone to push him in the right direction.

Background: Cloud arrived in Center Neisenma on the back of a ruined motorcycle, somewhat dazed and not certain of what was happening at all. His reception was less than friendly, considering he was carrying a gigantic sword and didn't appear to be a peaceful presence, so he quickly disassembled his sword and put all of the pieces away. It wasn't until after he had done so that he realized he had no idea how he knew what he was doing, and though that was a troubling thought, he buried it. Somehow, waking up in an unfamiliar place with no memories almost felt like deja vu to him.

Without knowing exactly where he was headed, though comforted by the motorcycle because it was something he had arrived with, Cloud pushed it to the nearest parts shop he could find and promptly arranged to sell some of the odds and ends he carried for a few workable parts that would get his bike moving again. Without any knowledge of where he had picked it up or why he should know how to fix it, Cloud managed the repairs quickly and skillfully, and without a backwards glance, left to find out where he needed to go from there. He had a restless feeling, like he was being pulled somewhere even though he had no idea what there was to find, he couldn't stop himself from looking.

A bulletin advertised the need for workers in Midgar, and somehow it felt right, so he went. He did odd jobs when they became available, and managed to get himself a small apartment with a corner of a garage to park his bike. Though he still has no steady income, there's something about Midgar the feels like home, so he's staying for now. People don't really bother him, and for the moment, the life suits him. He can't help but feel that he's missing something, or worse, has lost something irreplaceable, but since he doesn't know what it is, he can't really go looking for it.

Listed weapons and magical abilities: First Tsurugi, which is actually six swords that Cloud can combine into one really big sword. The process is complicated and seems like more trouble than it's worth to everyone but Cloud, who could piece this thing together in his sleep. It's second nature to him now, though he doesn't really know how it came to be that way.
